first off sorry for all inconvenience you got.
This sounds very unusual, since we tested the game on a much older Macbook and it runs fine, we just confirmed again it runs on our Test-Macbook some minutes ago.
So this looks like a system specific problem.
To get a deeper insight what the cause is we need your Player log files.

and upload your Player.log and crash dump if any as described to this thread.
This will allow us to take a look what did go wrong on your end.

This issue is known and fixed internally.
In the coming patch v1.4.1 the tooltips will be correct.

It is changed now to be random by default and will be patched with next update.

You are right it should be random by default, but with all weights zero it can't be.
We will change it to be random by default.
But if you setup positive weights for multiple it will correctly select each with a probability according to given weight.
Eg. if you set all weights to one (slider max right) it will be random for you without hotfix.

Next hotfix it will be random even in the corner case if all weights are set to zero.

When ever you get such a crash, can you again upload the log files?
It might help us to narrow down what is causing it.

This should normally not happen. However it might have been in an infinite loop which would cause a stack overflow at some point.
If you encounter this problem again, please chose wait and let it crash, so we might get a better log.
We did meanwhile add some save guards to the VFX pooling system in the hope to prevent any failures coming from there.
