Hi Mostdope,

Sorry to hear you're struggling with this achievement. As always we'll take your feedback on board however currently we have no plans to revisit this level's balancing. Many of the game's achievements are intended to be challenging and outside of a clear bug or obvious issue we feel this achievement is performing within expectations. I totally appreciate the frustrations you're facing here. Perhaps you can seek advice from the Steam Community or on our Discord? There's plenty of veteran community members who may have some tips and tricks for beating the achievement.

Cheers,

Lee

Hi Grant,

Sorry to hear you're facing an issue with the game crashing immediately after the splash screen. Can I confirm the nature of the issue is as follows:

  1. You launch the game via Steam. The Splash Screen appears.
  2. The Splash Screen disappears, the game does not appear. No program is visible on the taskbar, no screen take over. The process is no longer listed in task manager.

Can you also drop a dxdiag file in for me (How to: Submit a Bug Ticket) and confirm if you're running any antivirus or other such programs which may be able to kill processes. If so can you try adding the WFTO folder to your AV's exceptions?

Hope we can figure this out,

Lee

We're aware of this issue and it is already logged internally to go through our backlog. Essentially it loads the metadata every level of every campaign as soon as you click that. Which can obviously be more optimal and we'll definitely be investigating it.

Hi Niclas,

Thanks for confirming. I'll give the DRM-Free version a try myself to see if I get a similar issue. If I do I'll make a crash report for our code team.

For now as your issue is resolved I'm going to mark this ticket as complete.

Cheers,

Lee

Hi Wizo_Paradox,

This is truly peculiar for the game to suddenly stop responding to the UI, unfortunately nothing in the log would indicate anything out of the ordinary, which isn't particularly helpful. Some thoughts:

  1. Try removing the suggested forced DX Mode changes. Doesn't appear to have helped.
  2. Can you confirm whether this is happening on every level as soon as you start now? Or is this something that happens after some time?
    1. If it's in a particular save or on a particular level please provide details of the level or ideally a save file
  3. Try ensuring any other software that was running at the time is off. Including any security/anti virus programs. You could perhaps also consider trying to run the game with Windows in safe mode
  4. Try reinstalling the prerequisite redistributables from _CommonRedist in the WFTO folder.

I'm assuming that you're running on a Laptop. I'm not sure if the particular chipset you're running has an intel inbult card as well as your Nvidia one but can you ensure that you've forced the Nvidia GPU to run for the game in the nvidia control panel? When this used to occur it was because the UI and Game actually loaded on separate graphics renderers, but this shouldn't happen anymore.

Hi Niclas,

That's truly bizarre. There's no fundamental differences between versions. To confirm the version that wasn't working was the DRM-Free version and the version that does work is the Galaxy version?

Cheers,

Lee

Great to hear Nivdc,

I'll make sure we've got a ticket to investigate further Chinese fallback fonts for Linux :)

Hi Liam.Dou,

Sorry to hear you're having issues with the game not launching beyond the splash screen. Reviewing the output log it seems as though the Unity Engine does begin to boot but for whatever reason it seems it hangs at some point in the process and does not proceed any further. Pretty odd, it's not the first time I've seen this issue recently but I've had trouble getting reports from other affected users so I've yet to be able to determine a common cause.

My current suspicion is that the issue lies with users on non-gaming laptops which do not have discrete Nvidia or AMD GPUs and instead use Intel inbuilt graphics. While the game does run on some deployments of Intel graphics there are known issues with the UI MIddleware (Coherent) and Intel cards, which is why we recommend against them in our System Requirements . The steps you have taken so far are all correct, if possible I'd ask to ensure that your GPU's drivers are up to date as well.

I wonder if you could send me a full dxdiag report for both your affected system and the system where the game runs. Additionally can you send me an output log for the system that the game runs on so I can compare these?

Thanks,

Lee

Hi Der-nk,

I'm truly sorry to hear that you've been suffering from regular crashes in the main menu. From reviewing the logs you've provided I can see the crash is being caused by the UI Middleware that is running the game's UI rather than any of the game's native code. This is very frustrating as it's not something we'll be able to address with any haste on our side because the code does not belong to us. Coherent is known to have some issues with Intel GPUs and that is why we advise only Nvidia and AMD Based GPUs. System Requirements

My suspicion is that for whatever reason the GPU's software is causing an issue with the Middleware and this is causing the crash. My first advice would be to ensure your GPU's drivers are completely up to date and see if that helps. You can also try following the other steps in Crash! in particular ensuring all the appropriate prerequisites are installed.

In the meantime I'll move this ticket into our backlog so when our team is back on WFTO (it's in long-term maintenance mode at the moment) we can review and see if we can find a more long term solution. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more immediate help.

Hi Chris G.

Have you tried all the steps outlined in Crash!

If so please detail in exactly what way the game doesn't start. When you click from Steam do you see the splash screen at all? Does the screen go black? Is there anything you can describe.

Then I'll need you to drop a few logs in for me. If there's been a crash a crash log folder would have been generated if not I'll need you to upload a copy of the output log and launcher log. How to: Submit a Bug Ticket

In all cases please upload an output from DXDiag as well so I can review the hardware and software configuration of your PC.

Hope I can help,

Lee
