It may also be because I don't have the right font.(You know......it's Linux.)

I have tried adobe-source-han-sans,noto-cjk,wenquanyi, they are all wrong.

Can you tell me which Chinese font you use on Linux?

Hi Nivdc,

WFTO has several Chinese fonts it will attempt to use and fallback to these are: STHeiti, STSong, SimSun, 华文细黑

Please try giving these a go starting with STHeiti and see if this solves your issue.

Out of curiosity what Chinese fonts did your OS come packaged with? And which distro are you on? We can see about adding another fallback font to try and make sure more ground is covered.

Cheers,

Lee

Thank you for reply, the problem is solved!

I am using ArchLinux, it does not come with any Chinese fonts, but you can find Noto fonts and WenQuanYi fonts in official repositories.

In order to avoid copyright disputes, Linux distributions usually come with the above two Chinese fonts.

Noto CJK fonts - From Google.

Comprehensively cover Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean in a unified font family.

(I guess this is why Japanese fonts work well.)

WenQuanYi fonts - Ubuntu come with it.

But there are two styles of WenQuanYi fonts, wqy-microhei and wqy-zenhei, i don't know which one is used by Ubuntu, probably is wqy-zenhei.

STHeiti, STSong, SimSun, 华文细黑. These fonts don't seem to be free for commercial use.

Using them for game translation may need permission...i am not sure...

Anyway, thanks again.

Great to hear Nivdc,

I'll make sure we've got a ticket to investigate further Chinese fallback fonts for Linux :)
