Hi Antares,


The output_log does indeed seem to be pointing to a missing dependency, can you confirm you have installed all the dependencies as listed in the last email. If so can you send us a screenshot of your programs list, depending on the version of windows you are running this will likely look different but I've attached an example from Windows 10.


Also could we confirm what system you are running on. I can see you're using a Macbook but running Windows, are you running Windows through Bootcamp?

Alright I'm officially rolling the clock back on this thread. The input from Nutter was not invited and not appropriate and I apologize for the comments made previously. We're more than happy to continue looking into this and Cian will be back shortly to provide further input. 


We do want to resolve this issue as best we can, though I must set out reasonable expectation that there may not be much we can do for your save files. That said it is not my domain to say that and it will remain up to Cian and the code team to provide a final answer.


I appreciate your experience in this region but all I can say is that our code team are the only ones who truly know the code base of WFTO so please understand that if we truly believe something to be unfixable it will be marked as such.


Now I hope we can progress forward towards some sort of acceptable solution.

Thanks for the report, we've seen this issue a couple of times recently and it is usually caused by missing dependencies (which should be installed when the game is installed by Steam. Please can you make sure the following are installed:


  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2010
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2012
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2013
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015
  • Microsoft .Net 4.5.1

You will find all of the install files for these in the "_CommonRedist" folder of your install directory. By running the installers for each it will confirm if they are installed, it may be worth running the "Repair" feature if possible as well for each of these.

Please let me know if this solves the issue. (Make sure to restart after installing just in case)


If this doesn't fix the issue we'd love to get our hands on your output log so we can see what is happening. Please email me back and incude the output_log.txt and your system specification as described here.

Thanks for the report, I can confirm I've passed the log onto the code team and we're now taking a look into it. In the meantime we'd like you to confirm that all the relevant dependencies are installed. You'll need to check to see that the following redits are installed:

  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2013
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015
  • Microsoft .Net 4.5.1

Thanks for reporting this to us. We've talked to our GOG contacts today and can confirm this is on their end, they should be able to resolve this on Monday. In the meantime you should be able to roll-back your version to 1.6.4. It seems for some reason an extra version was uploaded by them under the title 1.6.2 and this makes the DLC incompatible.


We'll mark this as complete as it requires no further action on our part. Apologies for the inconvenience.

  1. Is this the only map affected, can you load campaign levels / other skirmish maps?
