Deluxe trash bin messing things up

Hi,

the Deluxe Trash Bin, that allegedly has infinite hold and never needs emptying, and is always filled somewhat (apparently by filling itself up slowly) so the bugpeople can feed from it, is still a target for Medibots.

Medibots regularly go to Deluxe Trash Bins and purge them of filth. That creates unnecessary jobs for them.

Simply remove the DTB from being able to call Medibots, except for repair.

Though at least it gives the little bobbles something to do for once.

It's medibots driving up to DTBs just as they do to normal trash bins and then purging them empty with the filling bar going down. I don't know why that needs a video.

They just do the exact same task on an item they shouldn't. There's nothing special of note.

Having a video allows our team to better understand some in-game behaviours. I will forward your report as it is then, no worries.

I've looked further into the matter, and while there is a coding issue, there is also a UI issue that kept me from figuring out what is going on. A video wouldn't have helped. The answer lies in the tooltips:

Image 8738

Image 8739

Simply going by icons, what most humans would do:

1) The first icon would indicate repair-state, which would be a justified call. But the tooltip explains it is its fill-state. I have never seen one increase to full capacity thus cannot even tell whether that would be "unlimited" as the description of the DTB advertises.

2) The second icon is the real troublemaker. When only roughly looking over it it could just as well be something being thrown into the bin, but upon glueing my eyeball to the pixels those are tiny smelly lines with a lid (there is no lid on any of these items) being taken off. Intuitively I thought this was the fill-state, since above is obviously, by icon, the health-/durability-/need-of-repair-state.

I also thought this was the fill-state because it continueosly fills up. But it turns it only does so once something has been thrown into the bin. This is true for the normal bin as well as the DTB. They function exactly the same. The DTB is even empty visually once a Medibot has cleaned it.

Thus: Whether the Medibot is called for emptying and/or smell-removal is impossible to tell from the user end. The thing will be emptied simply because it begins to create smell. And when it is empty, how is it supposed to feed any Xil? Due to the description I thought it obvious that it was just constantly calling Medibots due to and infinite fill status. But that isn't even the case. The thing can be completely empty and then no Medibot will ever come.

Even if the Bots were solely called due to the Smell-Meter, they would constantly empty it. The two modes would be indistinguishable.

I believe the thing is just like the normal bin and just a reskin. The functionality described in the tooltip is complete bollocks (and honestly the item would be way too cheap anyway and should have artefact status if it worked).

This thing would need a deodorizer, or at least one of these little plastic trees people hang onto their mirrors in their cars to work. Here's a chance for synergy with other props, if they had actual effects.

edit: I did not expect there to be tooltips on mouse-over on these tbh.

edit2: It is also extremely weird to have the delete button somewhere in the middle with it looking no different than any of the other buttons. That thing just just be elsewhere, as with the delete button for rooms.

Thank you for the follow-up! I will add the additional information to the initial bug report!

Not sure, we either change the text or indeed making it bottomless, with caveat that it would get very smelly. The small price change makes me wonder which change you might want

The tooltip is incorrect. This bin did in fact used to be an artefact, but we determined it wasn’t cool enough to be worthy of that status, so it was “demoted” to be a regular bin with regular functionality - and we forgot to update the tooltip.

Tooltip updated in all languages. No re-loca required.

Hey N h! As Josh said, the garbage bin tool-tip should be updated and hopefully will no longer be confusing!

Thank you for your patience regarding this issue!
