Hello,

Specs:

OS: Windows 8.1 Single Language, 64bit

CPU: Intel Core i5-4210U @ 1.70GHz 2.39 GHz

RAM: 4.00 GB

GPU: NVIDIA Geforce 820M, ver: 368.22

Game Version: 1.4.0f4 (Steam) with Heart Of Gold Exp.

I did all the workarounds below but the game freezes and crashes in first tutorial while seconds after minions starts digging.

  • I'm not using USB Headset while playing.
  • 3D settings selected as "High-performance NVIDIA processor"
  • I don't use AVG Antivirus program.

Also i did set all the graphics options to minimum, closed everything related with GPU and set resolution to 1024, but the issue persists.

Thank You,

Best Regards,

Hello attila

can you please provide your output log?

you can find that here: x:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\War For The Overworld\WFTOGame_Data\output_log.txt

i need to check first if your GPU is correctly changed, believe me even if you did everything correctly this often still leads to issues, thanks for the report and sorry for the inconvenience

Hrm your log shows that the correct card is used, this may be related to your low RAM

i will bring this to the coders attention though, thanks for providing the information

Hi Attila,

Can you try setting the texture resolution in the graphics options to a lower value? It could be that you're running out of memory.

I did lower resolution value to 800 X 600. Turned off everything but still the same.

Do you have a crashlog to upload?

you can find them here:

D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\War For The Overworld

there will be a folder with a date there like this as an example: 2016-05-20_204142

inside you will find the crash logs. Im sorry that this is taking so long but we are unable to pinpoint the issue with the information we have, im sory for the inconvenience

Does it happen on all maps or only on larger (custom) maps?

It could well be that you run out of memory when you play with only "RAM: 4.00 GB" installed.

The problem is that 4GB is only enough for campaign maps and small to medium skirmish maps, which are integrated with the game.
However since you have only 4GB installed and Windows does already occupy around 1GB and then other applications might take even more, there might be not enough left to run the game properly.
Ideally the game needs at least $GB usable memory to play but we recommend 8GB to play large custom maps.

What could help in this case is to close other applications using a lot of memory.
To figure out which applications doing this, open your task manager (right click on the task bar at the bottom),
go to "Processes" tab and click on the "Memory" column header to sort processes by their RAM usage.
Try to close all not needed other processes which use bigger chunks of RAM while playing the game.
Other then that, lowering resolution and texture quality can help to reduce RAM usage as well.
Also when you finish maps fast without building extremely large dungeons/armies it wont use that much RAM.

I hope this helps.

Cheers
