PC Save Game Corruption, How to fix and Replicate.

I've noticed a few times now, that when playing for a while, if I save (or the game autosaves) and then I quit shortly after, the next time I launch the game, i get a message to say the save is corrupt and to attempt to reload. Which results in the same error. 

I have noticed when this happens, an additional .BIN file is created without an associated .JSON

If I delete the additional .JSON, the save is restored and I am able to play again. 

It doesn't happen every time, however has happened at least 5 times during a 100hr play though.
