Room recoloring issues

I have had issues when operating the menus but the one that is reoccurring the most is the room coloring. I'll open the room menu and select recolor but when I press anything on the +pad it'll select the move object tool instead. And holding a on the colors doesn't recolor the whole room like it says it should.
