Here is my system:

  • Processor AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 3.60 GHz
  • Installed RAM 64.0 GB
  • Product ID 00330-50000-00000-AAOEM
  • System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

  • Edition Windows 10 Pro
  • Version 21H2
  • Installed on ‎4/‎10/‎2021
  • OS build 19044.1237
  • Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0

I am running into an issue in where when I start up WftO the splash screen comes to a crawl and the game uses 70% or more of the processor.  When the game isn't running I am using between 9 to 14% of the processor at any given time.

I have 64GB or ram, my video card is beefy enough, and so is my processor, but ever since last night the game has come to an absolute crawl.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game, and I can't figure out what the issue is.

Here is the log file as well: output_log.txt

I hope this helps, and thanks.

Hi thanks for the bug report and sorry for the difficulties you're having!

I checked your logs and I've found something concerning about your PC config:

Direct3D:
Version: Direct3D 11.0 [level 11.1]
Renderer: Microsoft Basic Render Driver (ID=0x8c)
Vendor: Microsoft
VRAM: 32731 MB

Basically it's saying that you're running the game without any GPU at all! Your poor CPU is trying to render the game. I am going to guess you're on a laptop as they can sometimes cause this type of issue. Take a look at this similar knowledgebase article on how to force the GPU to render the game: https://support.brightrockgames.com/en/knowledge-bases/2/articles/1096-missing-invisible-or-laggy-ui-fixed-in-v20

Desktop, I have a Gigabyte Radeon 5700 XT. And because of the processor, I don't have an onboard GPU...

We talked a little on Discord and here's what I suggested to try:

So a few things to try:

- Refresh the game's cache and try to boot it
- Roll the game back to 2.0.7 and try boot
- Reinstall the game from scratch and try again
- Update your graphics drivers? Or perhaps they have recently updated?

I wish I knew another Unity 5.6 game to point you at as well to see whether the issue is present there, as we don't have any say over what the engine hooks into for a renderer.

Marking as cannot replicate as no response in a while. But do let me know if it's still causing you problems.
