Just hangs there and does nothing. Have to alt+ctrl+del out. Several attempts; waited five-ten minutes per. There is also a square/rectangle of some random webpage surrounding the splash screen. output_log.txt

Windows 10 64-bit
8.0 GB RAM
1 TB + 8 GB SSD
Intel Core i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 850M

Do you need any other info? Including the output_log from steamapps, just in case it helps.

Good advice; took me some time to read the email and implement the fix, but was not their fault. Got distracted by another game for a while. :-)

Hi Stefan; sorry for the tardy reply, got sidetracked by The Witcher. I tried your AVG fix; it took a little time to load, but it does work. Looks good; glad I'll be able to play it. Thank you very much.

Hello Jheames,
some security software can see the game as false positive because of an aggressive heuristic (so far only happened with AVG Antivirus).
In this case you need to add an exception for WFTOGame.exe so the game is not blocked.

If this is not the cause, since an issue with wireless USB devices is known, just try to unplug any wireless USB device when starting the game to make sure its not the cause.

Other standard startup issues can be found here:

Please let us know if any of these recommendations helped and which.

Cheers

Hello Jhaemes

do you perchance use an USB Headset? if so can you try unplugging it and starting the game again?

Hi there; no, I don't. I've just got earbuds for my phone plugged in. Also tried the NVIDIA control panel fix, switching the 3D graphics there rather than the on-board Intel. Didn't work. However, there is now a message that pops up stating that I'm using the wrong card. I've even gone to an earlier build. Nothing works, always the same incessant hanging. The same ctrl-alt-del escape from it. Getting fairly annoyed now. :-(
