Hi,

I keep having to restart my game and start level 10 because it keeps crashing. For some reason a blue player worker appears within my dungeon, not sure if that has something to do with it.

Details:

Windows 10 64-bit
16GB RAM, core i5 4670K, ASUS GeForce 760 Strix 4GB

Running build 1.6f8 at 3440x1440 with all options on default aside from autosave > 15mins

Any help would be great, I'm loving this game so far.

Hey McMuffle,

According to the output log you are experiencing a nvidia driver crash. Can I confirm that you have the latest drivers installed?

Hi Cian Noonan,

I checked and there was a more recent driver version available (was 378.58, updated now to 381.65). However, it is still crashing and in fact more frequently (and on any level). I can't even make it 15mins between autosaves which is getting aggravating.

Is it possible it has something to do with G-Sync, the 21:9 resolution or the fact I am using 3x monitors (game only uses the primary)?

I have provided the most recent crash logs.

Please help me solve this so I can play your game... when it crashes and I lose my progress I have to think hard about whether I want to bother opening it again.

I'm going to do everything I can to help you. The good news is that since updating your drivers the crash log now contains much more useful information relating to the exact code that is crashing.

We'll have a look at the function that is crashing at get back to you.

Any update on this? Still getting really frequent crashes that are making the game very hard to play.

It looks like it is Unity internal code that is called before the crash. We have tried to locate the code triggering this but it seems to be entirely Unity internal code.

It is related to the camera, so if you could try to play the game in 16:9 with black bars and see if that improves the crashing. You should be able to force that in the nvidea control panel.

Sadly changing the resolution hasn't made any difference. Also I've noticed that occasionally the entire UI locks up and you can't click on any part of it - the level still runs and you can pick up/drop minions and use shortcut keys but you can't click on veins of evil, or rooms/spells/constructs etc. This is only corrected by quitting to windows and restarting the game. Want me to put this in a separate bug thread?

I think it's best we keep it all in one ticket. Does this happen before you crash? And this is only happening on C10 right?

If you have any more crash logs then please link them here as the last ones you sent don't give much to go off.

It's not just on C10. Originally that's when the crashes began but it does it all the time in all levels now. The UI freeze happens completely at random, and the game doesn't necessarily crash when this occurs, but I have to quick save with F5 and exit and restart before i can control anything. When it happens, if I press escape the game pauses but I can't see any menu buttons so quick save is the only option.

Have linked a few recent crashes, hopefully this can solve something?

Now I'm even more confused, you are crashing at a different point each time...

Could I get you to run a memory test?

Step 1: Open the Windows Start Menu and type in mdsched.exe, then press enter.

Step 2. A pop-up will appear on your screen, asking how you'd like to go about checking the memory. The first option will restart your machine and check the memory right now, and the second option checks the next time you choose to reboot. Pick the option that's more convenient for you.

Step 3: Your computer will load a screen that shows the progress of the check and number of passes it will run on the memory. Watch the memory diagnostic tool for errors and report back the results.

Hmm, well the UI locking up like that sounds like Coherent (our UI framework) is crashing, but there's no evidence of that in the logs you've sent.

If the UI vanishes again then quit the game and go to ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\War For The Overworld\WFTOGame_Data and you can grab the output log for that session and post it here.
