Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.160211-0600)

BIOS: BIOS Date: 09/04/12 16:04:55 Ver: 41.01

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz

RAM: 16gb

DirectX 11

NVIDIA GeForce GT 620

I've read a few other reports and threads around steam and on this site. There is no integrated gpu in my machine, so that is not the issue. After first encountering this horrendous UI, I updated all of my drivers and tried again. Nothing changed. I've tried changing around a few settings in-game (which takes a while since the mouse is nearly useless). The 3 processes for the game's 3rd party UI software have all been raised to maximum priority - this also was no help.

It was a long while back when I asked some friends if they had tried the game and they had told me it was impossible to play. I had hoped that the gold edition and the latest patch would be different but now I am experiencing all of the same problems that led my friends to never put any time into a game they had looked forward to for so long. The main menu seems to run under 12 FPS, despite my system fitting the Recommended specs, as well. So, even if I could use my mouse, I probably wouldn't be able to do much in game with such a horrible handicap.

Honestly, I don't expect a fix to this. Everyone else I see posting about this problem seems to have just given up, after being given the same workarounds spiel. What I am hoping to do is to give you notice that the situation was never resolved, people just ran out of patience. Maybe, in the future, this bug will cease to exist and I might return.

Cheers

Hey stilesda,

As you can see in Lee's response, the GPU in your system fails to meet system requirements. The issue with your laggy mouse is caused by the low FPS due to the low processing power of your GPU.

In order to play the game you need a computer that meets the System Requirements specifically your GPU must at least meet the minimum G3D mark score of 1550.

Unfortunatly SystemRequirementsLab doesn't take into account the differences between GPU generations and models. That's why it incorrectly thinks you meet the minimum specs for the game. Although the card is newer than our minimum spec card, it doesn't make it more powerful or as powerful as the minimum.

Your only other option is to refund the game through steam.

Sorry to hear about this issue Stilesda, obviously my first advice will always be to ensure you have tried all the workarounds in Missing, Invisible or Laggy UI, especially the D3D parameters as these solve a surprising number of cases. (Or perhaps they've given up by this point? It is difficult if we can't run through a troubleshooting process with someone)

The problem with issues like this is that we've never seen them ourselves, and the people who are affected either have the issue resolved by workarounds or as you say give up and never speak to us about them. It's difficult to get some insight beyond what we get told in the few reports we do get.

On reading your post as well I have the feeling that we may need to provide more detail in our system requirements as well. I had to look up your card (620 or 620M as Nvidia listed it) and unfortunately it is woefully underpowered compared to the cards we had in mind for the recommended spec.

G3D Mark ratings put your card at a rating of 433, while our benchmark card the GTX 560 pulls 3120. I wouldn't even say the GTX 560 is optimal but it would be our recommended minimum to have an enjoyable experience. Even our minimum recommendation (The minimum we believe the game would even run on) the GT450 is pulling 1553.

It's my suspicion that your graphics card is what is ultimately holding back your performance but we can certainly look it a bit further. First step after the Workarounds would be the Output Log, might give us some idea if there's any code misfiring.

I also think I'll make a note for myself to update all the System Specs on Monday when I'm back in the office. It's likely too easy to confuse if we're not stating explicit cards. I'm really sorry for that :(

My system requirements information mainly comes from SystemRequirementsLab, who use a lot of technical specs in their analyses. I tend to agree, though, that your game is probably for people with much more expensive systems, who aren't literally still playing Dungeon Keeper. Though, I have talked to people with the same issues but much better rigs.

For what it's worth, I have copied the Output Log. Is there some specific email address you'd like it sent to?
