I am experiencing a startup Crash on Arch Linux x64.

Double click it in steam i get a black fullscreen window and then 5 seconds later it crashes.

Its the first time that i try to run the Game so it never worked on my current system before.

I tried verifying game data, different Graka driver (newest from arch repo and one half a year ago), reinstalling game and every howto fix that i found with google.

Here is my Player.log .

Game Version:
Steam Public
Platform:
Linux

Thanks for the logs - We'll use them to ensure this isn't a widespread issue. However my best guess is that your linker isn't quite working. Check out this wiki article: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Steam/Troubleshooting#Steam_runtime_issues

I'll close this ticket now as this specific problem is solved though.

Cheers.

Sure :)

This is by starting Game through Steam with steam overlay disabled: Player.log

And this is the Console Output while running Game with Steam and Steam over Console:

This by just running the Game directly without steam: Player.log

And this is the Console Output while running Game without steam:

All the Locales used are generated normally now and are working properly without throwing errors in console.

Hey Mike

I fixed my locale issues in my installation. (turns out KDE package upgrade somehow mixed up a locale so i needed to regenerate them which fixed that issue) No more locale errors :)

Game still doesn't start tough :/

Tried some stuff and player log now only says steam overlay cant load nothing else thats useful. disabling steam overlay doesn't help in any way and setting LANG=C doesn't change a thing either :)

But i got the game working now by just manually starting the game without steam through steamapps folder....

Soooo Game runs now YEY :D Cant start it trough steam but hey i don't complain for me this is fine now and can be closed since i can get it to work. If you guys wanna investigate this further let me know and i am more then happy to try to help but from my side not necessary at all.

So thanks a bunch for the help and everything. outstanding Customer Service :T

EDIT:

Soooo turns out i just get a splash screen i tried to start the game and it showed me the loading screen with loading all the way through then crashing.... Weeeell honestly it doesn't matter for me anymore. I will just wait with playing the Game till i have a Windows PC again. To much of a hassle on my Arch Machine. If you guys want to investigate this further be my guest and i would be happy to help but for me it doesn't matter that much anymore :)

Hey,

Would you mind uploading a new Player.log?

Hey, Panslothda,

My name is Mike and I am a Support Engineer at Coherent Labs.

We verified that the game is working properly on a fresh, standard ArchLinux installation. We followed these two guides - https://uvesway.wordpress.com/2015/03/11/how-to-install-arch-linux-on-a-vm-virtualbox/ and https://uvesway.wordpress.com/2015/03/21/how-to-install-arch-linux-on-a-vm-virtualbox-ii/ , to make sure that the environment is as common as possible.

Taking a look at the log that you provided, it appears that the locale of your machine is not set properly. According to the topic here - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13365125/terminate-on-instance-stdruntime-error-hiphop-php - setting the LANG variable to C before running the game should take care of this. Does that work for you?

If that doesn't help - running Steam from the terminal will provide some more information as it logs inside it while it's running. It will also mention where the minidump and the logs from the crash are saved so that you can check them for any valuable information pointing towards the cause of the crash.

You should also keep in mind that ArchLinux is highly customizable and we cannot account for all the configurations that people might build. It is up to the users to ensure that they have the minimum required environment to be able to run the game.

Regards,

Mike

Hi,

After reviewing the logs and performing our own tests we believe it is due to a 3rd party plugin we use for the UI system. I have contacted their technical support for assistance.

Hi Panslothda,

Sorry I'm only just getting around to this tonight (actually at home but we're quite busy)

Unfortunately we're swamped at the moment, I've not really been able to catch anyone to take a look. As soon as someone comes free I'll grab them.

No problem take your time :) Thanks for the update :D
