Black Screen on Startup (Patch 1.4.2f5)

System: Intel Quad Core2 q9400 @ 2.66ghz, 4Gb RAM, 32bit Windows 7, GPU - Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT


Game no longer loads anything, goes straight too a black screen without anything else.


Game was working fine before latest patch today 05/09/16


Tried all the troubleshoots for startup problems.

Hi Nicco,


The hotfix should be live on the standard Steam branch now. You should automatically receive the update but if not just try verifying your cache on Steam. :)

Thanks for getting in touch I'd like to gather some more information from you so we can look into this issue.


Can you confirm for me the following:

  • You have attempted both:
  • At what stage does the crash occur, I'm assuming that it's between the splash and the game loading so you never see a loading screen.
  • Whether or not an Output Log is generated

I re-installed the game and that seemed to work with the update. Thanks for all the help, appreciate the time you guys took to resolve the issue!
