Critical error during game startup

I just purchased and installed War For The Overworld on GOG Galaxy (06-19-2017).  After I pushed the "Play" button, I saw the WFTO splash screen, followed by the startup screen.  This screen shows "War For The Overworld  Patch 1.6 Creature Comforts" at the top, artwork in the center, and a load bar at the bottom which fills from left to right over the course of a minute or so.  When the bar fills, a popup message box appears stating:

"Critical error

A critical error occurred during game start:

An exception was thrown by the type initializer for Galaxy.Api.GalaxyInstance.

The game cannot start.  Please report a bug using our Bug Tracker.  The game will quit."

After pushing the OK button, a screen image appears showing a dungeon scene.  This is visible for a few seconds.  Then the game closes.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing the game.  This appears to have made no difference.  The same error recurs when I restart the game.

Game Version:
GOG Galaxy
Platform:
Windows

Hey Karl,

It looks like we forgot to include Visual C++ Redist 2013. This is required by the GOG Galaxy service which is new for the GOG release; we didn't notice it was missing due to it being installed already on our test machines and on the machines of most users.

If you could download and install the Redist's manually from the links below then you should be able to play the game.

Let me know if that works for you

This seems to have worked.  The game is running now.  However, my Hand of Evil cursor is VERY laggy.  This makes the game virtually unplayable.  I saw something on the website about a conflict between the in-built graphics card and a dedicated card.  I do not have a dedicated card.  Do I need one?  If not, do I need to alter some settings?  Thank you.

Can you post you system specs? You can read this https://www.cnet.com/uk/how-to/how-to-find-your-pcs-basic-specs-in-windows-8/ article if you're unsure on where to find them.
