Upload and Share Content on the Foundry
What is The Foundry?
Opened on June 14th, 2017, the Foundry is a repository of custom content for Brightrock Games titles. Currently the Foundry supports custom maps and community translation files for War for the Overworld.
We created the Foundry so that players who cannot access the Steam Workshop can also share and experience custom content with one and other as well. In the future we plan to use this as a method for distributing highlighted community content to our players on DRM-Free platforms.
Uploading Files to the Foundry
Uploading files to the Foundry is relatively straightforward and intuitive, although locating the files you want to upload can prove tricky at times, and there are some guidelines that may be beneficial to follow when packaging your content. In this section you'll find guides ready to help in those regards.
Where can I locate my map creations?
GOG.com version: Once you've created and published your map you will be able to locate the files at "<GOG Galaxy install folder>\Games\War For The Overworld\GameData\Maps\Saves>" or "<GOG Games install folder>\War For The Overworld\GameData\Maps\Saves>"
You may see multiple files with the same name - be sure to grab the one which does not say "Edit" in the file name as this is your Map Editor file rather than your published map.
Steam Versions: Depending on your publishing settings you may find your maps in one of several locations:
Published to Workshop: "<Steam Install Folder>\userdata\<userID>\230190\remote\"
Downloaded from Workshop: "<Steam Library>\steamapps\workshop\content\230190\<Item ID>\"
As above be sure to grab the file that does not say "Edit" if you're pulling it from your user folder. It's also advised that you may want to download maps directly from the Workshop, as these contain a full image preview of the map which can be used when uploading to the Foundry.
Packaging maps for the Foundry
A WFTO Map consists of two parts, a map file and a .meta file. The .meta file is responsible for describing the contents of the map to the game, while the map file is what's loaded into the game when the map is launched.
Packaging a map for the Foundry is quite simple: drop the relevant .meta and map files into a folder and create a .zip from the folder. The Foundry will only accept .zip files for maps so do not try to upload the map as individual parts.
If you're putting together a map pack then simply drop all the files into a single folder and zip that.
You do not need to include any image files or further instructions unless you wish to do so.
Community translations are even simpler: you can upload your .csv files directly to the Foundry under the Community Translation category.

Uploading files to the Foundry
Once there do the following to upload your file:
- Click the red "Add Resource" button in the top right corner of the main window.
- Select an appropriate category for your content.
- You can now configure various information related to your content:
- Title - Select a prefix that fits your content and set a title. Ideally keep this the same as the Steam Workshop if you have it on there.
- Version String - Set a version number for your content. This will usually be defined by your Steam Workshop version number, i.e. v3 after 3 versions uploaded to the Workshop, but you can use anything provided you know the version differences.
- Tag Line - A short description to sell your content with, which will appear in list views.
- Uploaded File - Here you can upload your file. Please only upload .zip and .csv files. Maximum file size is 25MB.
- Original Author - If you're not the original author list the original author here.
- Description - The full description for your content. This will usually match what you would put in your Steam Workshop description.
- Tags - Quick descriptions regarding aspects of your creation. Usually limited to single words.
- Author Credits - If your uploads contain content from other creators, such as in a map pack, then pleases credit them here. Ideally indicate which content they worked on.
- Steam Workshop Link - If your content is also on the Steam workshop add the URL here.

- Upload Resource Icon - Tick this to upload an image to be used as a thumbnail. For a map you'll ideally want to use a minimap image of your map.
Preview your thread and then when ready click Save. Upon clicking Save you'll be prompted to upload your icon.
Installing Files to GOG Version
Locate the map and its .meta file on your computer and copy them to the clipboard (if downloaded from Steam they will be in "<Steam install folder>\steamapps\workshop\content\230190\<Item ID>\")
If WFTO was installed via GOG Galaxy: Open "<GOG Galaxy install folder>\Games\War For The Overworld\GameData\Maps" and paste the files here
Else if WFTO was installed without GOG Galaxy: Open "<GOG Games install folder>\War For The Overworld\GameData\Maps" and paste the files here
Open WFTO, navigate to the game mode the map is for, and select it when choosing a map
Locate the translation .csv file on your computer and copy it to the clipboard (if downloaded from Steam it will be in "<Steam install folder>\steamapps\workshop\content\230190\<Item ID>\")
If WFTO was installed via GOG Galaxy: Open "<GOG Galaxy install folder>\Games\War For The Overworld\WFTOGame_Data\Translation\Community" and paste the .csv file here
Else if WFTO was installed without GOG Galaxy: Open "<GOG Games install folder>\War For The Overworld\WFTOGame_Data\Translation\Community" and paste the .csv file here
Open WFTO, navigate to the options menu, go to "Language" and select the translation from the drop down
