Game crash/black screen

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Intel i7-4790 CPU @ 3.6ghz
8 GB RAM
AMD Radeon R7 200 2GB RAM

Game installed fine, and starts without issue. I played through the tutorial and it crashed twice, once after a few moments and once toward the end. (Crashes: screen went black, sound locked up on music stutter, esc, ctrl+alt+del, etc. did nothing, had to reboot). First crash tried lowering display settings a bit, second crash, updated the AMD driver to most recent driver, played through the first level, when I clicked on continue, crash 3 with same result, black screen, but this time I could hear the background music playing. Again, unable to escape, Win key+tab, ctrl+alt+del, etc. and again had to hard reboot. Only running Microsoft Security Essentials (no AVG), no wireless headsets. Tried re-verifying the steam cache (was okay). No crash reports generated from any of the crashes.
