After today's patch, the game will not load.

A critical error occurred during game start:

Access to the path "/Volumes/1TB SSD/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/War For The Overworld/WTFO.app/Contents/GameData/Options.txt" is denied. The game cannot start.

Game Version:
Steam Public
Platform:
OS X

This sounds like a permissions issue . The patch deployed today didn't modify the file listed so I can only presume that as part of the patching process the file was modified and a permission flag was set on OS X.

As an initial step I would ensure that you have the correct permissions to read/write not just that file but all the folders related to the game.

Let me know how you get on. I'd love to keep this in mind if there's something I can help do to alleviate it.

Thanks for the quick response.

I have gone into that file and updated the permissions so all accounts have Read/Write, but unfortunately have the same issue. My account itself already had Read/Write.

I've also applied it to all files within Content - same issue.

Also restarted Steam just incase, but no success.

Just by way of a quick update, I did a full reinstall and the same situation.

I was playing the game before the patch came out, hopped out to sort something and installed the update when I noticed it, and it broke thereafter.

So I fear it is something in the update. :(

That is absolutely bizarre. Could it be an Anti Virus program quarantining access to the file?

For the time being you could try using the Steam Betas feature to roll back to the previous build.

We always move the last version to this branch whenever we roll out an update. So see if that helps you and restores your access. If it doesn't that suggests it's a OS level issue, but what exactly it might be I'm not sure at this time.

Send in another message when you've tried a few of those things and let us know how you get on.

That's great Lee, thanks.

I've reverted back to the old version, and that's loaded up perfectly! :)
