Hi Mikkel

Looks like your issue may actually be different from the one reported here (which is from 2 years ago).

If I'm right the issue you're having is that the splash screen appears and disappears followed by nothing happening at all (no black screen). This is a recent development related to the 10th-gen Intel CPUs on Laptops/Tablets.

Am I right in my assumption that you are playing the game on a recently release laptop or tablet that features a 10th gen Intel CPU with Intel Iris Graphics? In any case please raise a separate report as per the link Cian included above.

You can also review Game does not start. Crash after splash screen on start up. [Windows 10 - 10th Gen Intel Iris Laptop, Microsoft Surface 7] which should help summarise your issue. In any case at the very least please raise a ticket with the details requested in the "Advice" section.

Thanks,

Lee

Hi Mikkel.

I have separated your ticket out to save you the time of creating your own.

It seems like my suspicions are likely confirmed that you've run into the compatibility issue I linked above. This is the first time I've seen the window actually appear though. Others report that the icon appears on the task bar and disappears almost instantly. But the data in your output_log appears the same. Which is to say the program just ends prematurely.

Please send the additional info as instructed in the ticket when you can unfortunately at this time I can only advise a refund beyond that. But every bit of data we can get on this will help us to investigate further once our programming team aren't so snowed under.

Thanks,

Lee

Hi Lee,

nah I don't need a refund, the game worked fine on my old Linux machine, and this is not the only Unity game that has this problem (Dreamfall Chapters also crashes on startup).

I was just hoping that there was a solution :(

Hi Mikkel,

Thanks for dropping that in for us. Although there's little information included every little helps us in our investigations.

I'm truly sorry I couldn't help you find a solution at this time. Hopefully when our team comes back around to WFTO and we get our hands on an affected system we can find some workable solution for everyone affected.

Sadly I currently have no ETA for this so I will be moving this ticket to accepted and putting it on hold in the meantime until we can swing back around. I thank you for your patience in this matter, I appreciate your frustration especially moving from Linux to Windows where you'd expect software to be more readily compatible out of the box.

Thanks for letting us know another Unity game is affected as well. If nothing else that will help us pinpoint a common cause.

Thanks,

Lee

Hey Mikkel,

I hope you have been keeping well. I wanted to drop in a message as another user has recently reported a similar issue with the same hardware profile. Interestingly this user was able to reach the game on the affected system while it was in Airplane mode. I've yet to confirm this works for other affected users so I thought you might like to give it a go. It's truly a peculiar one as we wouldn't have anticipated a networking issue.

Here's a few steps you can try:

  1. Try launching the game while Steam is in offline mode, on the off-chance it's a steam authentication issue.
  2. If your laptop has an airplane mode try enabling this and launching the game
  3. Try disabling the the network adapter via Windows. First in the networking adapter menu and if that doesn't work then via the device manager. Instructions.

Let us know if any of these work!

Cheers,

Lee

Hi Mikkel,

I'm pleased to report that the upcoming Patch 2.0.8 should resolve this issue entirely. It's not yet on the default Steam branch but is available as a beta. How to: Access the Debug Branch on Steam.

Cheers,
