Game freezes and crashes at initial loading screen

Purchased the game via Steam, and every time I launch it I get the splash screen, then the loading screen (with artwork and loading bar). Once the bar hits 1/4 loading it freezes my whole computer, then my computer restarts.

System info:

Windows 10 64bit

8GB Ram

Intel Core i7-6700HQ

Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M w/ 2GB dedicated memory

I had this issue with the GOG drm free release 2 weeks ago and I thought it was just the GOG version, but I'm hitting the same thing with the Steam one also.

I don't know the build of the game I'm using because I've never actually gotten to the main menu. I purchased it on the Steam sale yesterday if that helps

Hey Phreaux,

Could you please try and use DDU(Display Driver Uninstaller) to remove your graphics drivers and then install the latest from your manufacture?

Great suggestion. Tried it but it didn't resolve the issue. Other ideas?

Honestly, I'm not too sure as this is an issue kinda out of our control. The games log points to the computer shutting down while the game is loading without showing anything to suggest that it would be caused by the game.

I would suggest that you try to run the game while windows is in safe mode and consider a fresh install as the game doesn't do anything that can cause a crash.

thanks for reply. Tried safe mode and it froze also. Super sad it doesn't work with my computer (and don't have an alternate to run it on right now). Maybe in the future when I get a new pc. For now requesting a refund from steam

Yeah, it's just, unfortunately, one of those one-in-a-million issues that we don't have any way to know the cause of. I hope that you're able to grab the game in the future and enjoy it then
