The FPS are unplaybly poor, even in the Main Menu. The mouse cursor lags.

With a lot of patience I can manage to enter a game but the performance is still unplaybly low.

I managed to make the cursor "work" without lagging by setting it to "hardware cursor" but the rest of the game is unchanged. Low FPS.

  • CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 3.20 Ghz
  • Graphics: Geforce 8800GT 500MB
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • OS: Debian sid
  • Game Version: v1.6.2f4
    • Tried the game every time a patch came out, no change in performance so far

Portal 2 for example runs fine.

First I thought it was worse performance on Linux or my PC but then I got suspicious when it ran fine on my notebook. i7 with some intel graphics.

Hey Ben,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I've just had a closer look at your GPU and it looks like it falls far below minimum spec. As you can see here http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+8800+GT&id=1279 your GPU scores on average 755 points on the PassMark benchmark.

Unfortunately War For the Overworld requires a minimum score of 1500 on the PassMark benchmark to run the game. There's nothing we can really do to fix it other than recommending that you attempt to run in the absolute lowest video settings. I hope that you can fix some way to enjoy the game, or an alternative machine to play on.

Sorry again that you are unable to play.
