After 1.4.2 update I can not load some saves

After 1.4.2 update I can not load some saves. For example, I can load saves where I played 3-4 hours, but can not load saves where I played 5-6 hours. The game crashes with r6025 - pure virtual function call error after loading almost come to an end. Look on a screenshot. Also I uploaded one of those saves.

crash on save game restore in rhode

I keep getting crashes in the rhode map, and all of my save games are corrupted. I have restarted from the begenning 5 times now and made several saves each try. It ends up crashing about 40 minutes in and then if I try to open any save game from rhode, it crashes immediately.

A savegame doesn't load, crashing the game

HoG level 2 save doesn't load, crashing the game somewhere after the load progress reaches 100% and I start to hear sounds, but before I get to do anything yet. Three times it were just "Application stopped working" kind of crashes, but last time I got "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library": "Runtime Error! Program:<...> R6025 - pure virtual function call".

Hi all. Hotfix 1.4.2f5 has now been pushed live to the public branch. Publictesting branch is now closed so you'll automatically be moved there if you opt in.

  1. Was the save file in question created before the latest patch
  2. At what point in the level was the save file created?

I also have this issue exactly, it started to happen after the latest +400mb patch.


I tried re-installing the redistributables as it was saying "runtime error", but then now I just get a generic crash pointing me to either games executable, gamelogic.dll or to an "unknown" module.


my temporary fix:

Open the level from the campaign map, then after the map begins, load the relevant save file of the level.

example: my save file of the last level crashes, I click the last campaign level from the map, start it, after I see my dungeon core I press esc, click load, then load my last level savefile.

It does not work in my case. For example, I tried to load savegame after 4 hours of play, it worked, and then I waited an hour more, save the game and loaded it, being in the same level, and the game crashes.

1. It was created after 1.42.

2. Quite far, I've claimed as much land as I could, had built a lot and had like billions of units. Well not billions, but many :)

It is very interesting, just I could load 1 time that savegeme, but after that when I loaded that savegame, the game crashes.

Everytime it crashes, try to open the level from campaign map then loading it, I don't know why but this method works for me

  4. Not gonna delete and re-download the game, sorry

Crash happens when loading save files with long playtimes and many units.
